Conditions

Back pain is a condition that affects many people in both childhood and adulthood. Left untreated, it can develop into a debilitating complaint that impeeds on many aspects of your life.

A major part of your treatment is educating you on how, why and where your pain originates. Learning and understanding the Anatomy of your Back Pain will provide you with a big step towards feeling better, quicker.

As you probably already know, back pain is a very common complaint. About three in four adults will experience back pain during their lifetime-and that number may very well rise, given our aging population and recent trend of obesity.

Low back pain (pain in your lumbar spine) is the most common. Most back pain comes from sprains and strains caused by stressful movements: lifting something without using proper techniques or a sudden twisting motion are just two examples of how you can hurt your back.

Is Swine Flu a Marketing Exercise for Tamiflu?

For those that remember the avian flu epidemic in 2006, you'd also remember the debut of Tamiflu - an anti-viral medication that promised to solve the problems of the flu-riddled countries. This same anti-viral is now being promoted to combat the swine flu ‘epidemic' that is ‘sweeping' the world.

With the recent increase in the threat level to stage ‘five', governments are now activating their pandemic plans - quarantining those infected, house-arresting those showing symptoms, handing out face masks. So the scare campaign begins.

The thing that we find amusing is that the original Tamiflu that was brought out in 2006 is being used for this bout of swine flu. Even more amusing is that, as confirmed by Tamiflu manufacturer Roche; Tamiflu only has a shelf life of 3 years.

When the avian flu erupted in 2006, governments bought billions of dollars worth of Tamiflu in an effort to fight this illness. It turned out that the avian flu was nowhere near as damaging as once thought, so the surplus of Tamiflu was massive.

Now, three years later, the massive stockpile of Tamiflu is about to expire. It seems extremely convenient that Australia happened to be ‘well-prepared' for swine flu - especially when they would have to very soon dispose of billions of dollars worth of Tamiflu.

Each year, 250,000-500,000 people DIE from the common strain of influenza. So far, around 600 Australians have been confirmed positive to having ‘swine flu', with most only showing minor symptoms like a runny nose. Around 200 people have died, most in poor countries where not even basic healthcare, let alone food, shelter and preventative medication is available.

To put things into perspective, 3,000 people die from Malaria everyday. It is considered a ‘health problem' - but of course this is because there are no ‘new and brilliant' vaccines for malaria that can bring in billions of dollars in a very short amount of time.

The good news about the soon to expire Tamiflu is that research shows that it will reduce a person's symptoms of the flu by one day. With the strain of the swine flu also mutating, Tamiflu might not even give you a days' relief. But it will give you some really great side-effects.

An FDA advisory panel recently recommended that the warnings on two influenza drugs be made stronger after evidence emerged linking them to neurological and psychiatric problems. Problems that have led to deaths.

Tamiflu's current warning urges "Close monitoring of patients, particularly children for ‘increased risk of self injury and confusion shortly after taking Tamiflu." The FDA panel also recommened that this warning be changed to say that "in some cases, these behaviours resulted in serious injuries, including death in adult and pediatric patients."

In Japan, where the Tamiflu drug is more widely used, at least 14 deaths have been reported. Five children under the age of 17 have died after "falling from windows or balconies or running into traffic," according to the FDA.

According to the drug manufacturer Roche, two people under the age of 21 died from brain infection, and an additional seven deaths from neuropsychiatric symptoms have also been attributed from the use of Tamiflu. In layman's terms? After taking this drug, people are going crazy and killing themselves.

Other side-effects include delirium, convulsions, hepatitis, liver disease, asthma, allergy symptoms - realistically all the symptoms you are trying to avoid.

To compliment all these nasty side effects, there is no real proof that Tamiflu works. For instance, according to The Lancet (October 1, 2005) a review of all previous studies testing influenza vaccines to elderley populations has shown not shown that they are effective in preventing this disease.

Another study in The Lancet (February 26, 2005) analysed every study published in any language, and could not find ONE SINGLE study that shown a flu vaccine led to the reduction in mortality or serious complications from the flu in children.

The fact that the world's population is now being brainwashed to believe that Tamiflu is the only effective anti-viral medication is laughable.

Trying to live a healthy life may be hard when there is so much fear, ignorance, opinion and craziness around you. Instead of falling on your knees to the big Pharmaceuticals Companies (Roche has made around 8 billion profit in the last year - also reporting a 34% jump since the swine flu started), take care of yourself naturally.

Exercise, eat right, use supplements and keep up your immunity. Try to encourage your family to do the same. And, in the mean time, let's just hope that the healthcare industry will do its job - take care of our health - rather than scaring us into submission.

The Spinal Centre's Comment:

This is a great article highlighting some really basic facts:

A) Tamiflu is highly ineffective
B) The Swine Flu threat is getting blown way out of proportion
C) The side-effects of taking Tamiflu are much worse than the flu symptoms
D) There are other options out there that won't cause you to go crazy

The main (and only) active ingredient of Tamiflu is in fact Star Anise - a common spice that is available in most supermarkets right now. If you want to save around $90.00, and protect yourself against the side effects, go buy a packet of star anise.

If you would like to boost your immunity, and protect yourself not only from the Swine Flu but other illnesses, try natural medicine.

The Spinal Centre stocks the best and most potent natural medicine available. Not only will this treat your symptoms (if you have any), it will also boost your immunity to protect against common illnesses like the flu.

Our highest recommended product for colds and flus is still Bioceuticals Armaforce. It contains the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrients to shorten the symptoms and duration of colds and flus, and doesn't contain any nasty or addictive additives.

This is probably the most popular product on the website during the winter time, and for good reason.

If you really want to protect yourself year-round, invest in a good multivitamin/multimineral formula.

You will have read this time and time again on The Spinal Centre because it is something that we truly believe it.

If we were all eating a highly nutritious diet, and gaining all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that we need from food alone, we wouldn't need supplements.

However, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get all that you need from your diet. Not only do we not eat enough vegetables, fruits, meats, fish and legumes - the food that we eat doesn't contain enough vitamins and minerals for us to function properly. Hundreds of years of farming, along with enhanced meat, chemicals and processed foods mean that our body will lack in important vitamins and minerals unless we supplement.

Our highest recommended product would have to be Eagle Pharmaceuticals Tresos B. Not only is it one of the most potent formulations available - it does work.

All Spinal Centre staff use this formula for the simple fact that it makes us feel better. It works to fill in the 'gaps' in your diet. No matter how healthy you think you are, you will still benefit by using it.

Try to exercise, drink enough water and eat healthily. Spare yourself from the hype and worry of the 'swine flu epidemic', and keep living your life - stressing will only make you more susceptible to any illness.
